State Bank of India (SBI), recognized as the “Best Bank in India” for 2024 by Global Finance, invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for the post of Probationary Officer (PO). Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India, contributing to SBI’s operations across its vast network.

Post Details

  • Total Vacancies: 2400 (provisional, may vary per SBI requirements)
  • Pay Scale: Starting basic pay of Rs. 48,480/- (with 4 advance increments) in the scale of Rs. 48,480-20,000/7-62,480-23,40/2-67,160-26,80/7-85,920 (Junior Management Grade Scale-I).
    • Additional Benefits: DA, HRA, CCA, PF, NPS, LFC, Medical Facility, Lease Rental Facility, and other allowances as per SBI rules.
    • Approximate CTC: Rs. 20.43 Lacs per annum at Mumbai Centre.
  • Probation Period: 2 years (subject to continuous assessment; failure to meet standards may lead to termination).
  • Bond: Rs. 2.00 Lacs for a minimum service of 3 years (invoked if candidate resigns before 3 years).
  • Place of Posting: Anywhere in India, including SBI circles, offices, associates, subsidiaries, or other organizations, as per service needs.
  • Upper Age Limit: 21 to 30 years as on 01/04/2025 (born between 02/04/1995 and 01/04/2004, inclusive).

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications (as on 30/09/2025)

  • Minimum Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Final Year Candidates: Candidates in the final year/semester of graduation may apply provisionally, provided they produce proof of passing by 30/09/2025 if called for interview.
  • Specialized Qualifications: Candidates with degrees in Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, etc., are also eligible.
  • Integrated Dual Degree (IDD): Must be passed by 30/09/2025.
  • Note:
    • Date of passing is as per the mark sheet/provisional certificate or university/institute website result posting date.
    • Candidates must produce original certificates during document verification.

Age Limit (as on 01/04/2025)

  • General: 21–30 years.
  • Relaxations:
    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • PwBD: 10 years (UR/EWS), 13 years (OBC), 15 years (SC/ST)
    • Ex-Servicemen/ECOs/SSCOs: 5 years (for those with 5 years military service, released on completion of assignment, excluding dismissal/discharge due to misconduct/inefficiency/disability).
  • Note: Cumulative age relaxation not available; candidates must submit relevant certificates during Group Exercise/Interview.

Other Conditions

  • Nationality: Indian citizens only.
  • PwBD Reservation: 4% horizontal reservation as per RPWD Act, 2016, for:
    • Visual Impairment (VI): Blindness (visual acuity <3/60 or field <10°) or Low Vision (visual acuity 6/18 to 3/60 or field 10°–40°).
    • Hearing Impairment (HI): Hard of Hearing (60–70 dB loss in speech frequencies).
    • Locomotor Disability (LD): Includes One Arm (OA), Both Arms (BA), One Leg (OL), Both Legs (BL), One Arm & One Leg (OAL), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Leprosy Cured (LC), Dwarfism (Dw), Acid Attack Victims (AAV), Spine Deformity/Injury (SD/SI).
    • d&e: Mild Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD-M), Mental Illness (MI), Multiple Disabilities (MD) from above categories.
    • Benchmark Disability: Minimum 40% disability, certified by a competent authority.
  • CIBIL Status: Candidates with defaults in loan/credit card repayments (unregularized by offer letter issuance) are ineligible. Regularized candidates must update CIBIL status or provide NOC from lenders by joining date.
  • Category Restrictions:
    • OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates must apply as UR.
    • No category changes allowed post-registration.
    • SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates must produce valid certificates in GoI-prescribed formats during interview.

Selection Process

  • Phase-I: Preliminary Examination (Online, 100 marks, 1 hour):
    • Sections:
      • English Language: 40 questions, 20 minutes
      • Quantitative Aptitude: 30 questions, 20 minutes
      • Reasoning Ability: 30 questions, 20 minutes
    • Selection: Top 10 times (approx.) the vacancies per category shortlisted for Phase-II based on aggregate marks (no sectional cut-off).
    • Penalty: 1/4th marks deducted for wrong answers; no penalty for unanswered questions.
  • Phase-II: Main Examination (Online, 250 marks):
    • Objective Test (200 marks, 3 hours):
      • Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: 40 questions, 60 marks, 50 minutes
      • Data Analysis & Interpretation: 30 questions, 60 marks, 45 minutes
      • General Awareness/Economy/Banking Knowledge: 60 questions, 60 marks, 45 minutes
      • English Language: 40 questions, 20 marks, 40 minutes
    • Descriptive Test (50 marks, 30 minutes):
      • Communication Skills: 3 questions (Email, Report, Situation Analysis/Precis Writing; Email and Report compulsory).
      • Typed on computer post-objective test.
    • Selection: Top 3 times (approx.) the vacancies per category shortlisted for Phase-III, subject to minimum sectional and aggregate qualifying scores.
    • Penalty: 1/4th marks deducted for wrong answers; no penalty for unanswered questions.
  • Phase-III:
    • Psychometric Test: Personality profiling (marks not specified; results may inform interview panel).
    • Group Exercise: 20 marks
    • Personal Interview: 30 marks

How to Apply

  • Steps:
    1. Register on SBI’s career portal using a valid email ID and mobile number (keep active until results).
    2. Upload scanned photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, hand-written declaration, and live photograph (via webcam/mobile).
    3. Fill application form, save partially if needed (using provisional registration number/password), and verify details before final submission.
    4. Pay application fee online (debit card/credit card/Internet Banking/UPI).
    5. Download e-receipt and application form post-payment.
  • Note:
    • No hard copy submission required.
